A Louisiana native, Valerie spent 11 years in New York City as a cook, food stylist, and writer, all while being a Ford Model. She then completed an MA in Food Culture and Communications from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Italy. She became Starwood’s first "Forager" at W Austin Hotel. Had she been born in an earlier century, Valerie would have been sourcing the finest silks for the Maharaja himself. Instead, she has been working on finding a left-handed sauté pan for a demanding Chef. How the mighty have fallen.
